About the Cookbook

This spiral-bound full-color cookbook contains 23 fabulous recipes, personal anecdotes, and interesting facts about Mayan food and culture.  Each recipe was submitted by a person connected to the nonprofit and the original recipe obtained by someone they personally know in Guatemala.  Many hands and hearts have contributed to this wonderful book!

The funds raised from the sale of the cookbook will fund food relief efforts in Guatemala and the donation of water filters and vented cook stoves.

Sharing Food = Showing Love

Our relationship with the communities we serve through Guatemala Service Projects is grounded in mutual respect and shared purpose. We have learned that food often is the only material gift they have to offer, and it is given with generosity and a heartfelt invitation to join them at their tables.  This cookbook is a tribute to that spirit of generosity.

We hope these recipes inspire you to taste the love and history embedded in every bite, and to connect more deeply with the people and stories behind each dish.

Learn more about life in Guatemala, including:

— Vented Stoves:  A Safer Way to Cook

— Natural and Fresh:  The Guatemalan Way

— Tortillas, Three Times a Day

— Chocolate, Drink of the Maya

— Guatemala:  Maya Culture at Your Local Grocer

— Corn:  The Origin of Humans

— Three Sisters:  Traditional Agriculture in Guatemala

¡Buen Provecho!

With the purchase of this cookbook, you will help us in our goal toward the purchase and donation of 125 water filters in Chichicastenango Guatemala!
