Providing Libraries in Guatemala

Literacy is the surest way to escape poverty!

Donate Funds

With financial donations, we hire carpenters in Guatemala to create bookshelves for the schools and community centers we support.  The shelves are designed with the needs of the library in mind, with appropriate dimensions for young readers.

We also buy books in Guatemala printed in the indigenous languages spoken there.  Even though Spanish is spoken in school, it is important to provide some books in the language spoken at home so that the language part of their indigenous culture is kept alive!

Donate Books

We make multiple trips to Guatemala every year and in our checked luggage we transport Spanish-language children’s books for the libraries that we establish.  If you have access to a library’s used book collection, a Spanish teacher, or a Hispanic neighborhood, keep an eye out for book sales, rummage sales, teacher auctions, etc.

We collect Spanish books!  You can help us collect!

1. Use USPS Media Mail to affordably ship a box of books to us.  We will take them to Guatemala!  Send them to the following address:
