Buy Cookies and Provide Potable Water!
When you buy these yummy Guatemala cookies, we give back to Guatemala!
In November of 2020, we visited Panimache Quinto Bajo, a municipality of Chichicastenango in the Quiché department of Guatemala. The families in this community have a nacimiento (clean water source) but it is not accessible to everyone. When you support us with this cookie fundraiser, we will raise the funds to purchase the PVC pipes that will carry the water to a collection point, and the materials required to erect the pila in that spot. This pila will exist in a location that is accessible to the families and bring the water to a collection place above ground.
To help us with this endeavor, we have enlisted the culinary talents of La Saveur Sucrée, a small business in our hometown of Oconomowoc Wisconsin. La Saveur Sucrée makes thick delicious sugar cookies with intricate designs! We have an assortment on-hand, but custom orders can be made!
NOTE: Due to baker’s pregnancy, immediate-turnaround orders (less than two weeks) are currently on hold. If you are ordering for a special event, please let us know a “need by” date and we can state whether or not we can accommodate. Otherwise, all other orders are being postponed until after the baby’s arrival.

These would be great for a Gotcha Day or Quinceañera!!
NOTE: These photos are from the community of Panimache Quinto Bajo, where we are supporting the families with low-emission stoves, a library, vitamins at the elementary school, and more! In 2021, we are wanting to complete this water project and provide an initial technology donation to the school.

If you would like to make a contribution to this water project without buying cookies, please specify “PQB Potable Water” in the comments section and donate here instead:
To provide clean water in Guatemala, please use this “Give Now” button. You will have the opportunity to leave a note as to how we should direct the funds. Thank you!

The “right” opportunity arose when I learned about a travel opportunity for adoptive families which would include volunteer work and cultural sightseeing. Being members of that team had a profound impact on me, Lillian and Andrew. Not only were we able to make a real connection to our son’s birthplace, but we met incredibly warm and generous people, all of whom we now consider to be a part of our “family.” In addition to the volunteer work I shared with the Team, I also was able to “give back” by performing as my alter ego, “Farfel the Clown” at a barbecue for children of The Backyard School. It will remain one the proudest and happiest memories of my life.
